Jimena
elevated her talent toward a capacity of noble expressiveness and the
most pure communion with her singing instrument, a most touching finale. Upon
listening to the final notes of the piece by the Russian composer Schnittke,
one could sense a sweet death approaching, like a perfume that invokes
the presence of the eternal. Vigorous
breathing and impulses, a splendid bow, a radiant sound—the cello
of Jimena Giménez Cacho grants the senses an irresistible repertoire.
The record “El Amor y la
Muerte” reveals a mature and solid artist. A Mexican cellist of
notable musicality, Giménez Cacho lays bare the promising path
of cello performances in our country. Jimena
convinced by way of her moving, warm and profound sound. Through her controlled
handling of the bow she accomplished an extended phrasing. The duet Giménez
Cacho–Dudin, which for some time now has been in existence, has
reached maturity. This is evidenced by a dialogue among equals, a sonorous
balance and a clear articulation.
As orchestral arranger and performer in the record “Ecos
del Mundo”, Jimena Jiménez Cacho moves far beyond the level
of technical mastering, toward a state of confession, which she is able
to share with her audience.
Jimena Giménez Cacho is an extraordinary cellist.
By contemplating her performance of the cello for only one instant, one
becomes aware of her fine and generous sensibility.
If
there is anybody who demonstrates his or her passion for something, it
is Jimena Giménez Cacho for her cello.
This
was a most interesting program in which Giménez Cacho exhibited
her fine qualities both as musician and interpreter: a warm and vigorous
sound with a fine timbre that achieved a profound performance of the difficult
work by Sibelius, as well as an excellent duo with pianist Claudio Herrera.
Here
we have an artist, with expressive hands and a countenance of great inspiration,
and a cello, which, rather than being an extension of the performer, fuses
with her, as in the supreme act of love.
’Sublime’
was the word used to describe this beautiful, exquisite and delicate presentation;
simply a marvelous concert, worthy of the most selected tastes. |
